Oil Bath

Taking Oil Bath has been a long time tradition and there are so many benefits. Based on the facts and benefits discussed below, oil bath should be at-least once a week habit if not daily! Regular oil bath helps in maintaining good health, saying "Keep Away" to diseases. Oil bath should be given before having food.

Oil to use(recommended)
(You can use any of these based on availability.)
  1. Sesame Oil(also known as Gingelly Oil)
  2. Coconut Oil
  3. Dhanvantaram Thailam (You can find it in a Ayurvedic Medicine store or might be available in Grocery Stores). Other benefit - This oil is traditionally used for women after they have given birth as it helps in rejuvenating tissues.
Benefits:
  1. Helps in nourishing the whole body and maintaining a good physique.
  2. Applying oil to head and body enables in keeping the sense organs sharp, the skin wrinkle free and shining, the hair roots strong. Also, we are relieved of muscle cramps, aches and pains.
  3. Oil bath helps in avoiding hearing defects, and pain in the jaw, neck head and ears.
  4. Helps in making the feet steady & strong and bettering eye vision.
  5. Helps in resisting against Vata(Air) related diseases.
  6. Helps in fighting against heat, tiredness.
Note :
  1. Oil has to applied from head to toe especially to Head, Ears and Foot.
  2. In the case of infants and children oiliness can be washed off better using Bengal Gram powder (Besan Flour) wetted with water than with soap or Shikakai(Acacia Concinna shrub) powder.

DO NOT Give Oil Bath when one is affected with cold, cough, indigestion problem, has nausea feeling, diarrhea. Avoid oil bath immediately after eating.
